We still need to reword the OP title: "What Would California Be Like If It Were Given BACK to Mexico", or "...If It Were Returned To Mexico".

I guess we would be watching Regreso el Futuro movies in telenovelas form. Good thing I have some Spanish.

Perhaps you meant "Regreso al futuro"

Known as "Volver al futuro" in Latin America.

I suppose Al wishes he could Volver Al Futuro the 2000 Presidential election quite often.

I usually capitalize names of movies though. Perhaps you've heard of Back to the Future?

If you are going to correct someone, better catch the reference.

Uh; Mexico STOLE that land from Spain too just a few years earlier.

Looking at the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and Alaska in 1867: had Spain put down the Mexican war in 1820, there's a real good chance that ALL of Mexico would've been SOLD to the US.
