i thought the dry hot air was what caused sinus problems? i am from the gulf coast where as people know, the humidity is high. ive been living in the sacramento area for a little over a year, and last october i developed a bad sinus problem - if you know that nasal spray stuff, well id never touched it before in 37 years, and now, i have to live on the stuff or my nose is just stopped up. in fact i bought a humidifier some days ago, hoping it would help.

someone clarify this

Dryness can cause sinus irritation, but humidity tends to cause nasal congestion and a swelling of the turbinates. Most people fare better in dry air rather than humid air, especially if their septum isn't perfectly straight.

You should figure out what is causing your sinus problems. Humidity alone isn't to blame. Maybe you are allergic to mold or mildew.

I live in Sacramento. I have a lot of sinus problems in the fall when things start getting damp. My sinus problems go away when it finally gets cold enough to reduce the amount of mold growth. The sinus problems return in the summer when people start blowing dust and junk out of their gardens with leaf blowers.

thanks for the reply - my nose has remained stopped up since last october.. doctor did 2 bloodtests, food and air allergy, and both came back negative. so ive no clue - 37 years without any of this trouble, then bang.

also, if i took this thread off topic my apologies, but i saw that the original poster's situation was quite similar to my own
