Narrowing it down to the only two of these cities that I know well, I am torn. I couldn't recommend living in NYC. My experience with the city was a feeling of claustrophobia. However, you would only do it for a year, and having done it, would always have that experience to fall back on, but I just can't recommend it. San Diego - it can really trap you in for the long haul. It's pretty nice.
I'm not from the United States so I don't know .. but I know a friend who lives in brooklyn new york for 800 a month with a roommate
and he goes to manhattan everyday in like 45 minutes (if i remember but it was less than an hour)
I also searched some apartments websites for all the 4 cities and I found some
New York is a nice choice but if it is that difficult to find a place ... we will go to San Diego ... plus .. the beach is an extra

thnx

Default Miami got no votes lol

If you're going to live anywhere for a year and you want to a city that is totally alive I'd say go to NYC. The pace is frenetic. For $2k you should be able to get something decent in Brooklyn.

However, if you want to be surrounded by supermodels, tourists, and spend some time at the beach go to Miami. The partying will be more one-dimensional and there isnt really an urban feel to it like SF or NYC. You can definitely get a pad on SoBe or Brickel for $2k.
