It seems like California is the state that keeps CREATING the jobs with their culture of innovation but the red states are simply cheaper and in many cases are outright buying jobs from california companies.

Will California change and adapt to the undercutting? I hope so. I don't want California to stop being innovative and to stop placing a high priority on qualify of life but at some point you need to stem the tide. California could use some tax code restructuring but it would be impossible since the people have to vote on everything directly.

Also, something needs to be done about the Democrat party in general. I'm more of a progressive liberal but I can't stand a lot of things the Democrat party does. I was arguing with one about "affordable housing". I feel like they hurt downtowns by getting government to build "affordable housing" because they eventually become home to dysfunctional urban males. Would rather start building projects out in the suburbs and just run a bus back and forth for access.

LOL.

Yes, California's collapse truly began when the porn studios all moved to Las Vegas to avoid LA County's mandatory condom laws.

Except California leads the nation in manufacturing

Quote:
NO. 1 STATE FOR MANUFACTURING: California is by far the number one state for manufacturing jobs, firms and output – accounting for 11.7 percent of the total output, and employing 9 percent of the workforce. CA manufacturing generates $229.9 billion, more than any other state. California Economy by the Numbers

MANUFACTURING JOB INCREASE: After ten plus years of manufacturing job losses, California posted three consecutive years of manufacturing job gains in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
But that's okay because we can still drown our sorrows in our beer over losing so much porn - although with porn gone, this remains hard to swallow:

When OP says good jobs, is he referring to minimum wage, low wage jobs that we Californians donate to other states ? You can have them, till they move those out to Mexico

California should lead, it is the largest state by far in population, it should lead in every category.

Pro Tip: what you want to look for is something that is per capita based when comparing states to each other.

Porn is a multi billion dollar industry that employees hundreds of thousands of people. But it is ok, tech is doing well.

I guess you can ignore everything else I posted.

All those people in the industries I listed generally left the state to find work. You work in aero space your whole life, you move to where the aero space jobs go. Same for military and all the other categories I listed. Most of these jobs were middle class and up, well paying jobs that could support a family. Jobs that were based in many different parts of the state. But it's ok, tech in SV and SF is doing great.

You are delusional. Thanks to the Democrats, over 160 businesses have already left CA just this year and its only July 1st! They are fleeing at a record pace. We lose 3 for every 1 we get. Not to mention unemployment rates have been truly dismal since the pathetic liberals have taken over and killed the middle class here, driving them and their money to other states. They have been replaced by all the illegal scum the Democrats pander to so they can get votes as they live off the states money. Truly pathetic.

I think this guy hit the nail on the head.

Most of the jobs that are moving out of CA to TX, et al. are low-wage/low-skill jobs. Furthermore, only about 10% of people moving out of CA to other states have at least a bachelor's degree. OTOH, over 50% of domestic migrants who move to CA are college-educated. Speaks volumes, IMO.

FWIW, many, although by no means all, of the transplanted Californians who live in the Phoenix area are uneducated/unskilled workers who moved here purely for cheaper housing and lower taxes/COL. Yeah, you get some of the OC crowd in areas like North Scottsdale, but for the most part, lots and lots of Californians here seem to be from the Inland Empire, Central Valley, and Mojave Desert, so needless to say, most are uneducated, low-wage workers if not retirees. IMO, this paints the California transplants--and Californians in general, for that matter--in a really bad light to native Arizonans and Midwestern/East Coast transplants, many of whom, at least in the Phoenix area, are actually quite well-educated by comparison.
