Does he surf this site and reply as he sails? Someone who averages 4.23 posts per day on an internet forum doesn't have much of a life much less travel.

Gee, I'm famous! On a thread about the liberal California stereotype I've hit the big time!

mbell, the current boat is a 24 footer, not 20. The dinghy is a separate vessel that also sails, and rows, and motors. What's "liberal" about my lifestyle is its freedoms. You'll never know. But I am the first to say it's sure not for just anybody. You need to be free of most attachments - material lifestyle is a mismatch. Gotta be into the actual experience of life. Like I said: you'll never know.

But anyway, just to set things straight, Ruth, I don't sail this little boat up the coast to Puget Sound. I could but sailing the Pacific coast from Santa Barbara north to Puget Sound is NO fun. Brutal. I drive up in my little old truck. Sailing south from SB is great. Sailing Puget Sound and up to Alaska is great. In between sucks. I now have another boat up in Puget Sound that I park on a friend's property. That's the old wooden classic. Sweet.

Meanwhile, liberals, conservatives, libertarians can all spend their lives arguing the value of their respective ideologies till I circumnavigate the globe and the cows come home. If ANY of them worked better than the other, we'd know about it by now. What we DO know - well, those few who care to look, anyway - is that humans aren't nearly so bright as they think they are. Too much clever theory. Not enough observation of the nature of things, and self control to live within our bounds.

Y'all take care now.

P.S. - mbell, I can respond over the internet from anywhere there is a cell signal for a phone. Which, these days, even includes a few miles offshore. Responding 4 or 5 times a day takes minutes. And "having a life" is an interesting concept to ponder between me sailing and you slaving away to make your mortgage. Take care hoss!

Yes, 5 posts/day takes a couple of minutes. Even 40 posts a day wouldn't take more than two 15-minute stints, or so.

Stop bailing out banks and funding endless warfare and you'd be surprised at how much money America has. Socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor.

Too bad it's not true. Our wars are funded on debt, not out of the federal budget. We're short on SS and other services because of the Bush tax cuts, not because of the mid-East wars. That said, there certainly is truth to the fact that some federal monies need to be redirected, AND corporations need to pay their share of taxes.

But I suspect it takes some posters considerably longer to, um, "collect their thoughts".

Well, mbell. some of us are speedier and don't have to spend time on what to you may be a foreign concept. It's called "work." We already did our time!

Thats cool but if you read this forum on your phone, thats even more sad haha. Slave away? Don't think so buddy. Ive been my own boss for 10 years now. I work from home, set my own schedule and do what I want when I want. I could not do another thing related to work starting tomorrow, but I would still keep making plenty of money off my work for many years

Who said I read the forum on my phone? Do you know how the internet works on computers?

Mbell, you whine like a child about all your burdens. If you are free as you say, then what's your beef? You are a slave to your own illusions and delusions.
