not only that, but just plain mean. I can't believe how many times I see a thread where a person asks a perfectly innocent question, or makes a benign comment and immediately gets jumped on by 4 or 5 regulars who seem to take great delight in humiliating people and denigrating people..pretty darned sad.

Many are like that for sure. Others see problems and want help in fixing them, advice or just to point out what isn't being done. Some are just negative to everything and some are blind to everything.

The ones who attack anyone person for a begin comment .... well they have no real life so they come here to share their pain.

Somehow this thread got way off-topic. Back to El Nino:

Accuweather: ""We really have yet to see such a strong forecasted El Niño paired with such a strong PDO. The PDO could promote a ridge of high pressure over the West" and prevent the expected high rainfall:
El Nino May Intensify Into Strongest in 50 Years

Scientific American: El Nino is not a guarantee of rain, there are many "hurdles to clear":
El Niño Forecast Brings California Hope for Drought Relief - Scientific American

Lots of hedging and uncertainty...

Where are our rain dancers when we need them?

We just bought two new sets of patio furniture--with cushions even! I thought for sure that would bring us a summer storm!

Why does everyone miss the simplest way to make it rain?

Wash your car.

Just wait. Climatologists say that El Nino encourages Arizona monsoon weather to spill over into California from time to time. I bet by the end of August you'll be bringing those cushions indoors at least once...

After the rain in August the water police will probably write you a ticket for wasting water by watering the sidewalk and street.

we had a significant snow storm last winter, which is extremely unusual here at all.
If next winter is going to be more severe, my house won't take it.
Options are ,
provide alternative housing,
Reinforce current house, car ports, and awnings, remove all their contents including vehicles during storms. better the vehicle out side in the storm than crushed in the debris of structure. unusable in an emergency.
Provide separate resource/structure for food and water , clothing and other necessities if the house is lost during the event.
You might think it's over kill, but it's better then being killed , for being complacent .

It's been thundering and raining here in Chino Hills off and on since this morning. Hopefully the storm activity this weekend will dump a decent amount on Lake Matthews and other local reservoirs. Any little bit helps at this point.
