The people of France, Canada, Germany, England, Sweden, Switzerland, etc. have what you call socialized healthcare. I don't believe their doctors got through medical schools on "good feelings" either, or are less qualified, less motivated, and less skilled.

I have some news for you. The US already has socialized healthcare. The VA system is socialized healthcare. So is medicare.
Canada and France have some of the worst health care rationing in the world, unless you consider waiting 20 weeks to see a specialist something noteworthy or appropriate for your life style. I like the fact that I'm rich and can get a same day (same hour) appointment to the best doctors my money can buy.

It's about incentive.

You want the alpha geniuses who want to succeed at the top of their class becoming our surgeons and specialist.

Not the beta cucks who get by with a C- average.

The only way you can filter chaf from wheat is by offering huge financial incentives which is why 99% of people get into medicine in the United States go through the grueling process of medical school.

Quality of Care in VA Health System Compares Well to Other Health Settings

FOR RELEASE
Monday
July 18, 2016

The Veterans Affairs health care system generally performs better than or similar to other health care systems on providing safe and effective care to patients, according to a new RAND Corporation study.

Analyzing a decade of research that examined the VA health care system across a variety of quality dimensions, researchers found that the VA generally delivered care that was better or equal in quality to other health care systems, although there were some exceptions.

We've already established that profit incentive does not necessarily translate to the best care. And your opinion here about "health care rationing" is more evidence of your total inability to debate points with relevance since 'surgeons and specialists" do not manage health care systems and scheduling.

Most people who experience sudden distress don't feel they have the option of waiting for 9-5 weekday business hours to schedule appointments that might be weeks out. Most emergency room visits are for concerns that, in the patients' experience, are crises. It's a problem, but threatening them will exacerbate anxieties and in some cases sh8t will hit the fan. One example would be: septic infections. These arrive in emergency rooms with some regularity and over 25% of serious septis results in death if not dealt with aggressively on very short timelines. The symptoms are often mistaken for a variety of more benign problems - even simple anxiety attacks. Other problems that can be simple or terrible and hard to know which are: stroke and heart attacks. Food poisoning and other epidemiological threats are critically important to be diagnosed and reported to public health a.s.a.p.

I participated in the single payer system in my early years.

Hungary was a poor and communistic country.
Germany was wealthy and capitalist.

In both places,

Waiting times were several hours to see a doctor.

Waiting times were minutes in a serious case.

As someone who went into healthcare, I haven't had good experiences with the VA hospitals. They are depressing places to work at. I don't have numbers to pull up for comparison though, I just have my subjective experiences.
