Santa Cruz has gone to the dumps!!! I was born and raised here since 1969. I've seen nothing but Drug addicts, homelessness, gang's and a influx of Mexicans from all parts of CA flooding our once beautiful town. One point is you now go to the Boardwalk and almost 99% are Mexican individuals. Where are all the Surfer dudes I grew up with in the 1980's? All I know is it isn't the same old beach town it once was. HEADED YO OREGON!! (STAY OUT OF OREGON MEXICANS)!!!!!

Your post would have more credibility of you had a better grasp of the English language. Your grammar is atrocious.

Maybe English is his second language?

Or a graduate of a CA school.

However what he is seeing is becoming more and more common in CA.

Yeah, blame "the Mexicans' for our problem.

This was the major problem all cities are seeing more of.

" Drug addicts, homelessness, gang's".

Mexicans are not the problem, but they do change things for those who grew up in major white areas. Nothing wrong, just different. I visited the town my wife grew up in, in CA, and I went into a store that I had been in many times when we were dating. I felt out of place as I was the only English speaking person there. No problems, and got along fine with everyone, but definitely different.

Well, we know what part of town the OP lives in. It's not the part that doesn't have any Mexicans. And there are plenty of surfer dudes around, who were there in the 80's. I see geezer surfers on a regular basis; they live in my neighborhood, which isn't the OP's neighborhood. Oh well. If I were the OP and had a paid-for place in Santa Cruz, I'd hang onto it, but, whatever. I hope Oregon works out for him.

Yep. Take any issue and blame "illegals" or Mexicans. Well, role models, even bad ones, have their impacts.

YO Dude! Oregon is already full of Mexicans, at least by your standards. If you want to get away from Mexicans, I would suggest Brazil or North Korea.

Hispanics have been in California AND Santa Cruz since the 1600s. After all, how do you think Santa Cruz got its name? Santa Cruz means "holy cross" in Spanish who named the mission there. Back in the 1820s, Santa Cruz was actually under the control of Mexico.

I just picked up a 1970 National Geographic that had an entire article about the growing influx of Mexican immigrants to of California in the 60s and 70s.

Maybe you just didn't notice people of Hispanic origins when you were growing up. But, trust me, they were there.

By the way, according to the U.S. census bureau, the Hispanic population of Santa Cruz is currently around 17%. In Oregon, it's 14%. So, not all that different. I hope you have other reasons for making the move.

In regards to drugs, you may want to read up on the Heroin and Meth problems in Oregon.

Here's a good article to get you up to speed on the issues facing your new state: http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-no...s_a_less-.html

Oregon is lovely and I wouldn't mind living there myself, but has its own problems. Best not to expect nirvana. Good luck with your move.
