In California they can and do. Disobey a California gun law that violates your Second Amendment rights, the cops will happily bust your ass. You will obey or go to jail.

A locked gun case in your car. Exactly how would LE demand you open a locked case in your vehicle? At gun point? It could be yogurt inside.

No LE is wasting their own time, or their employers money to go down that rabbit hole.

Where the hell does everyone live that they have to carry a gun with them everywhere they go to protect themselves? lol. Talk about "living in fear!" Maybe it's time to move.

Only Thomas and Gorsuch dissented.

So two of Trumps three appointees are on record affirming that there is no Amendment II right to carry a weapon inn public.

Yet the usual suspects will use this decision to hysterically wail only about those particular political figures against whom they have an axe to otherwise grind.

Yep.

MASK? NO WAY! TYRANNY! I WILL NOT LIVE IN FEAR! [says, while strapping on his primary and backup pieces because he's too afraid to go to Jack-in-the-Box like it's Fallujah circa 2004]

Vermont, New Hampshire & Maine along with at least ten other states all have permitless carry. i've got white hair, I'm in a wheelchair and an easy mark for a thug. One never knows who's packing a gun so it's pretty safe hearabouts. All those guns make me feel very safe. I'd expect Vermont to have an uptick in crime due to the "New York effect" They've already installed a magazine reduction into law which is pretty much unenforceable as written but if I've learned one thing about life in New England, it's never trust a socialist.

I'm sure you don't lock your door at night either. What are you afraid of. Ever have a gun put to your head? Ya, I didn't think so. Some of us have and live in one of the nicest places on the planet. Know when to hedge your bets.

I'm not a mind reader so I won't pretend to know people's motivations and assume fear is the driving force. To me it would be like putting on a seat belt when I'm in a car; it's unlikely I'm going to be in an accident where I need it, but I'll wear it just in case. That's not fear, it's prudence. But we're talking about an individual right. Nobody is going to force you to conform to upsizing your self defense profile and carry a firearm to validate that right, just as nobody is going to force you to paint water color porno art to validate the first amendment.

That's the greatest thing about our system; you're free to opt in or out of these things at will and with impunity.

No, wearing a seatbelt is not the same as carrying a firearm. The designed and ONLY purpose of a seatbelt is to save lives. The design and ONLY purpose of firearms is to take lives. The cases in which firearms take lives justifiably are extremely few by any comparison to the cases in which firearms are used unjustifiably. Even if you separate out intentional criminal use of firearms and tally firearm accidents, suicides, and errors of judgement there is no comparison.

As for the “freedom to opt in or out”: those who opt in do so by increasing endangerment to those who don’t. So another really stupid attempt to rationalize.

I own firearms. I have a CCW. I don’t advocate for gun control laws.

I also don’t resort to stupid arguments to justify gun ownership. Firearms are excellent killing tools. That’s their purpose. It has its applications. Strapped to the hips of 95% of the human population - which population by and large becomes easily unhinged emotionally at the drop of a hat, or word in traffic - is a stupid concept. Defending our nation as untrained and undisciplined individuals and loosely knit ‘militias’ comprised of fanatical True Believers against perceived tyranny ... is also as dumb as humanity gets.

But hey, cowboys, knock yourselves out. See you at the courthouse and morgues.

And apparently you think commuters and old ladies should shoot purse snatchers running down crowded streets? Very smart. No bad guys would shoot back of course. No innocent bystanders could be hit either. Gotta risk anything for that $27.53 in your purse any way you look at it.

40 million people in California under daily siege. Call to arms. Let the shooting begin!
