Every living soul in North Korea has been indoctrinated since birth that the USA is their enemy, and that the USA is only weeks away from destroying/invading North Korea.

For North Korea, it is existential: if they do not develop a massive nuclear deterrent, then North Korea will be destroyed by the USA.

Taken in that light, everything North Korea does is explained, and pretty much anything/everything the USA does proves their indoctrination right.

You mean sending them millions of tons of food, fuel, and supplies for over 20 years so that they don't turn the Korean peninsula into a potential atomic fireball?

This is certainly a very delicate situation. NK has solid fuel rockets in development, meaning the rockets will have the potential to be transported fully fueled and hence launched in very little time, unlike liquid fueled rockets that need to be fueled while stationary. How do we invade with any sort of guarantee that NK will not fire nukes on mobile launchers when we will not know at any time where all their fully fueled nuclear equipped rockets are located?

Rest assured that exalted leader Kim is not crazy and suicidal. If he was, he would have attacked already. North Korea, like India and Pakistan and others, wants a membership at the nuclear club. Nuclear weapons give poor countries a deterrence against stronger countries that conventional weapons can not. It is for this reason that the US and South Korea have been reluctant to attack. If they don't get all of Kim's nuclear weapons in the initial strike, he might be able to launch any and all remaining warheads against neighboring countries and cause serious casualties and damage. He might not be suicidal, but if you corner a dog, it will bite.
