Hi everyone! We have been searching for staff jobs at universities/community colleges between SB and SLO. CPSLO seems like a great option and is close to my parents and sister. But career/staff jobs are not posted very often (maybe 4 per week) and we are under the impression that unless you're already settled in the area they won't give you an interview much less hire you...?

We do not find this to be the case at UCSB where hubby has been invited to interview for 3 jobs with one solid job offer which we couldn't accept at the time.

Anyone have any insights?

Also if you are currently a staff employee at CPSLO, what's the culture like? Parking? Faculty attitude towards staff? Any information will be appreciated.

thanks

Maybe you haven't heard but all the State agencies in California are taking a 10 % budget cut and the university system is also on the ropes. I live near Humboldt State and they're not hiring, they're laying off. This is going to be a tough year so plan on being flexible. Good luck!
