… Other lawmakers say the bill is significant because it would prioritize the livelihood of the working class.

Typical lawmakers. Come up with all these ideas without thinking about the repercussions. I mean did the lawmakers have a plan for the 32 hours employees will lose or pay each month?

I can't find the actual bill, even on the guy's own website, but apparently all hours worked over 32 would count as overtime. The idea it seems is to shift that threshold and put the decision (burden) in the hands of employers whether or not to pay it.

Even without seeing the details, I suspect the bill will go absolutely nowhere. No matter how "progressive" the progressive caucus and others claim to be, congress won't even budge on minimum wage when the Democrats control things. What's to make anyone believe this has a fighting chance? Also, this is federal, not California.

They probably expect the companies to pay them the same

Between 15 dollar min wage and then this? No wonder fast food joints are switching to robotics.

And kids should go to school 7 days a week so their parents could have some time to themselves?

Right. It said one reason for it, is to allow time for workers to spend more time with family. But the kids go to school 5 days a week. How is giving Dad (or both parents) Friday off going to give them more time with their kids? And who said the kids want more time with their parents than they already have, anyway?

What about a 36-hr. work week, with Friday a half-day? Isn't that what some countries do? A 35 or 36-hr. week?

Lawmakers are behind the times. This is nothing new. Back in the 90's I did a four-day work week with every Monday off. Loved it!

Work - for a paycheck in return for helping make someone else wealthy - is overrated. Christian work-ethics have always been a scam.
