Hello. I know this is early, but we are hoping to snowboard in the Tahoe area this winter. I have only been to Willamette Pass here in Oregon and I'm a high blue, low green run kind of person. Still learning. Any advice as to which snowboard resorts there would be more "user friendly"? Certainly well past the bunny slope. TYIA!

I like heavenly but Northstar is good too.
For me it depends where I’m staying.

One thing nice about Heavenly is that if you venture out to the Nevada side there is less people.

It's been a long time since we've been there, but Squaw Valley is a great place to ski and snowboard.

+1 on Northstar; riding from the Summit all the way down to the Village seems like the longest Blue run ever.

Heavenly because you’re close to the casinos and nightlife.

Heavenly is enormous and the views stunningly beautiful from the top. It's really like several interconnected resorts. And it's hard to beat if an active apres ski scene is your jam.

Getting to from one area to another generally requires some traversing on flats, which can be annoying on a snowboard. And it is part of Vail's Epic Pass (as is Northstar I think?), which I think adds to the overall business, especially when Tahoe is having a great snow year relative to other regions.

If you don't care about lake view or a vibrant night life, at your level I'd recommend something like Sierra-at-Tahoe.

I prefer Heavenly simply because our family cabin is on the South Shore - Highway 50.

But Squaw Valley is great too, especially if you will be on the North Shore - Interstate 80/Highway 89.

Squaw Valley has been called Squaw Valley for 70 years, but some Native Americans didn't want "Squaw" used so they renamed it Palisades Tahoe - which includes the original Squaw Valley ski resort and Alpine Meadows ski resort combined.

All the ski resorts around Tahoe are great depends on what type of atmosphere you are looking for(local folks vs. International ; homey vs. high-end amenities, etc.
