It is called compassion for other living beings. Californian's tend to care about things like that. What a bunch of self involved jerks we are huh?

Yep so much compassion that we are going bankrupt.

I'm sure all those foreclosure victims appreciate your compassion!

It is spelled "moral". Morale is something altogether different.

I lost my house too, but I sold before foreclosure was imminent. I lost every penny though. Yet I still have compassion for others. I don't feel like a victim.

I agree about the deficit. However that's not generating $1.98B in 45 days, it's avoiding sending out that amount, an amount that the state simply does not have.

Just pointing out the obvious, that the state of California cannot print money, nor can it send checks when it has no money in it's accounts. The money is not there! That's why no refunds are being sent.

It's far simpler than that. California has so many social programs that the state is spending more money than it is receiving in taxes and fees.

The state either has to take in more money (higher taxes), reduce spending (cut social programs), or a combination of both. That's what the battle in the state legislature is all about. The Democrats want to raise taxes, the Republicans want to cut social programs.

Will they ever get together? Who knows? That's what makes this state so crazy!
