I am in the drywall business and I am thinking about coming out to california to work and I was wondering what the average per square foot cost for installing drywall is? Also, if unions are a problem in the residential area?

Why would the union be a problem? Union drywallers make twice as much as non union in CA.

No, no one will force you to make more money.

Piece work is against the union rules, but you are expected to get a average amount of work done, scale in So CA is $35 a hour in commercial work, housing pays less.

You don't have to know Spanish, many times there's a Latino middleman who knows Spanish and English.

no I don't speak spanish and I am not hispanic. the only reason I was asking about the unions is I don't know how long I will be there and I don't want to get in something that someone will be depending on me and then I have to come home. I was just looking for work in different area's so I can get away from home for awhile.
