I would like to rent a place in Antioch. At this time I am interested in a place on Peppertree and sycamore. I would like to know what kind of neighborhood this is.

I lived in Pittsburg in the 70's and the dividing line was highway 4. I came back in 2009 from San Francisco to buy my first home. There still is somewhat of a north/south split but it is patchier. There are some nice newer gated communities northeast. The newest homes in the hills above BART are beautiful and go for 300,000-500,000 Like most suburbs, buy away from the main streets and middle or high schools where there isn't too much through traffic. Also there are a lot of apt complexes that are well maintained but those neighborhoods contain too many transient tenants Of course it pays to scope out the neighborhood, owned vs rentals, how the yards are kept, not high density "duets". I ended up with a 1100 sf 1988 ranch in a nice neighborhood with a $500 fixed rate mortgage.

Without the bars and multiple security doors in SF homes, I did get a simple security/fire/ medical emergency system but that is partly paid for by a credit on the home insurance.
