Yeah, I caught that too. I guess there is no way any people of Mexican decent living in California now could have family lines going back to the days of Pio Pico or prior. Those Latinos must have mysteriously disappeared over the last 150 plus years.

ONE HEART * ONE LOVE * ONE WORLD

Perhaps if we hold that attitude and collectively clear the emotions of fear, resentment and hatred, we'll be better able to deal skillfully and objectively with the logistics involved in resolving the immigrations issues.
I'm an idealist.
What can i say?
The Mexican influence in California is part of what makes it California.
And the land of this country was stolen from the American Indians, remember?
If you hold to the history that suits and supports you, don't you have to go back a bit further and acknowledge the prior history?
C'mon.
Change or die out.
The world can't sustain these old attitudes and paradigms any longer.

Las Vegas has a very high number of Hispanics. In fact, I am one of the white boys in the apartment complex I live in. I would say it is 90% Hispanic. Same thing goes for Phoenix where I am originally from.

Potentially, millions. If your ancestors were born here, and go back more than 150 years, then yes, I assume that one would have a very strong connection to the land. The fact that the western United States were part of Mexico 150 years ago merely means that Hispanic culture is an inseparable part of American culture, especially in the southwestern United States. Being an American does not erase your cultural traditions or your ethnic heritage, and many of those traditions are expressed and continued in American culture. Tacos are as American as hot dogs, hamburgers or sweet & sour pork!

Why should it matter how many Mexican immigrants, Mexican Americans, or any of the many Central and South American people live here? Can you even tell if someone is from Mexico or Peru? Or some other latin nation? Are you grouping them all together?

If the concern is with illegals then I do have a solution for you. Stop eating food grown on a farm. If we all stop eating food grown on farms their will be no need to have people pick the food a majority of the illegals will go home.
