My husband and I are considering a move to the San Ramon/Danville area, and I was wondering what life is like there for stay-at-home moms. Right now we live in San Jose, and I feel like somewhat of a loner! Almost all the moms here work and the kids are in daycare. It seems like everyone here who posts about living in San Ramon or Danville has really positive things to say about it, and I know the schools are great, and the housing is just so much more desirable than what we can afford here in the South Bay (in a good school district), which is not much.

So, I guess what I am wondering is, do you love it? Are there lots of stay-at-home moms and opportunities to make friends in your neighborhood, church community, schools, etc.? Are there lots of things to do for you and the kids or do you find yourself bored out of your mind? Are there lots of nice neighborhood kids who like to babysit?

Right now I have a baby and a toddler, so interested in parks, playgrounds, preschools, etc. But I realize my priorities will probably change as they get older.

Anyway, if you are a stay-at-home mom (or husband) in that area, let me know what you think. It will be a sacrifice, since my husband would have to commute every day to San Jose area for work. But we both like the area so much better than the South Bay, it seems like it might be worth it.

Default stay-at-home moms

I think you would fit in! I personally have a baby and a toddler and am a stay-at-home mom and live in san ramon! I am in a stay-at-home moms club, which admittedly does have some part-time working moms. I would love more true SAHMs in the area, so move on up!

There are so many stay at home mom clubs you will be fine and there are plenty of kid friendly activities as well. Good luck on your move.

Thanks ladies. We're definitely going to do it, looking at moving in the beginning of September. If anyone would like to leave info. for moms clubs (how to sign up, website, etc.), that would be nice!

Does anyone have a recommendation for preschool? I'd like to start my 2yr old in a 2 or 3 half day program.

There are lots of parks, groups, etc. It's easy to chat up conversation and playdates with other moms. I recommend a preschool near Bollinger. Donna's been a daycare/preschool provider for 20+ years and is President of San Ramon Childcare Council. Donna at Jumpin Daycare, Morgan Dr. (may not be listed). She runs it like a preschool, arts & crafts, cooking, show n tell, outdoor play, etc. Very structured. My girls love it. She is about $55/day and provides food. Open 8-5pm . If you'd like to email me I can give you more info sdander3030@msn.com ;o) Heather

I joined a local SAHM playgroup through meetup.com, you could also search under yahoo goups for groups in that area. You could even join now and explain your situation, get to know the group online before you make your move. Good luck to you!
