Is this taking illegal immigration or possible amnesty, into consideration I wonder?? Seems those numbers must be related to that, if so the economy will only tank further.

Since 2000, California has had 950,000 more Americans move out of the state than come in. That's huge. The population growth is entirely due to immigration from other countries (a large chunk of which is probably illegal immigration from Mexico), and high birth rates amongst Hispanics.

And how will we provide the additional drinking water for these new residents? It's rained all of 4 inches in the past 12 months here in southern california. We'll be lucky to get through this summer at the rate things are going.

Japan has 140million people and their nation is smaller than California. Anyways it is good that the population of illinois will only increase by one million. I really love my state and it's beauty. But my concern is Florida. What is going to happen to the everglades and all those alligators?

they want to raise shasta dam 17 feet...for more water..

they want to build a 50 mile long reservoir, west of the 5 north of Orland... L A has been quietly buying up land.. but there are still some big holdouts up here.. shades of Cadillac desert

we're already seeing the overuse of resources and soon recycling of water from greywater to drinking water will become commonplace... it has to.. there isnt enough fresh water on the planet

the amount of non whites will and has already dominated the population...

the cost of housing will continue to rise.. as will the amount of people living in one house.. thats already occurring in the bay area.. legally or illegally.. 1 migrant family cant afford a 700k house.. 4 families living together in the same house can

Ill be long gone by then.. if I could find that perfect blend Id already be outta here...

the California I knew will never return

In new communities. Remember, California is the third-largest state in terms of area, after Alaska and Texas. But as far as population density, it is not even in the Top 10.

Desalinization, perhaps. Southern California has an impressive supply of water - it just happens to be salt water.

Angry More Traffic Woes

With 12 million more new Californians, I'd hate to think of how congested the freeways will be, and not only during peak commuting times (notice I didn't say "rush hour" ) but ALL hours of the day and night. <Sigh>

With Highspeed Rail and better transit, it shouldn't be a big issue.
