They were called the Santanas when I was growing up in Orange County beginning in 1951.

Some people pronounce almond as "ammond". That bugs me.

Actually the old growers up in the Bay Area used to pronounce it "ammond".

As did my father and he was from New York. Come to think of it, so was my mother and she pronounced it "aLmond."
