Just curious to know about apartment rentals in Ontario (apartments, house)

This may be an odd question, but I am just curious to know why apartments rentals in Ontario do not come with washer and dryer hook ups. I presently live in Montreal and most apartments do come with it.

So for those of you who live in apartment units in Ontario, do most of you guys have portable washers and are you allowed to have portable washers in your apartment as I have noticed some building do have shared laundry rooms. Just curious to know.

Most apartment buildings use central laundry rooms. In House apartments may or may not have them. They cost some money to setup and are an attractive plus when it is done. Some landlords may shy away due to the risk of flooding.
