Getting kinda brutal to change Canadian money into American money, on a recent weekend trip it cost me $406Cdn to buy $300US. As a consequence our family Xmas trip to Fla. has been cancelled.
Any one else changing plans due to the exchange rate? Is this exchange rate motivating any Americans to pay a visit to Canada?

My attitude has all ways been............If you spend your Canadian dollars IN Canada, they are still worth 100 cents. Perhaps this will get more Canadians to vacation IN Canada.

We decided against doing our annual preschool August shopping trip to Syracuse NY. We went to the Laurentians instead. But we did spend part of the early summer travelling in the U.S.

jambo101, Florida is a hell-hole! As an American citizen, I beg you not to prop up their "economy."
If I weren't recovering from major surgery, I would love to take a skating vacation on the Rideau Canal. My long-time dream! I would also like to come up to buy a Quartz Nature parka, but they cost huge $$$ so that will have to wait.
Please spend your hard-earned dough in Canada. Or better yet, come to Michigan!

Having retired back in 04 with plans to winter in the American south already formed when the looney was somewhat weaker, our plans remain viable and unchanged.

Nice pics Jambo.

Parts of Eastern Ontario are really nice in the fall too. Nothing beats Cape Breton Island though.
