It's this guy's fault that "Lorne" became a popular name in Canada.

Maybe because almost no one has Horton as a given name in Canada?

There might be some truth to that.

Names ending in "eau" don't have the X at the end here, but most of them are common here too, with different spellings.

I've never seen Meaux here regardless of spelling. I think that's the name of a city in France.

Boudreau and Thibodeau/Thibaudeau are very common here. I've got friends and acquaintances with those names.

Breaux is spelled Breau, Brault or Breault here.

Also common up here and in Louisiana (Canadian spellings):

Arseneau/Arsenault/Arseneault

Babineau

Comeau

Gautreau

Thériault

Another popular and unique name for Québécois boys:

Alexis (the S at the end is silent)

Its popularity has two origins:

One is from a famous athlete from the late 1800s called Alexis Lapointe. Nicknamed "Alexis le Trotteur".

He allegedly could outrun horses and according to legend, never lost a race against a horse.

When I was a kid there were comic strips about him, among other things.

On an entirely different front, Alexis is the male hero of tragi-romance tale called Un Homme et son Péché, often referred to as the "Séraphin" stories for the bad guy's character.

This started with a book in the 1930s, lived on through a hugely popular series in the 1960s, was resurrected in an equally popular movie in the 1990s, and a year or so they did a reboot of it with a modern TV series.

So Alexis isn't going anywhere soon as a name here.
