I recently moved from US to Canada and we are thinking about Burlington Ontario to move , now we are in Hamilton, ON but is not the city that we like! coming from Atlanta Georgia everything seems very different, If some one can give me any suggestion I will be very appreciated!! I have 3 kids and and looking for a good area!!
My daughter and her family live in St. Catherines. Her hubby works in Hamilton. St. Catherines is the hub of Niagara. The "Jewel" of southern On. I have lived all over southern On. and there is no place as nice and affordable as Niagara. The schools are great, all of the social services like daycare are good. The people are really friendly and quite diverse. It's minutes from the Queenston Lewiston bridge so you can still save money at your fav American stores. We bought a lot from the Burlington coat factory. The scenery around Niagara is the best in Southern On. It's the wine center of Canada and of course Niagara falls is just awesome. Check it out and I think you will really like it.

St Catherine's is the jewel? How so? My favourite part of the Niagara Region is Niagara-on-the-Lake.. I think that is one of the prettiest towns in Ontario...
PS From the Niagara area, you can take advantage of Buffalo Airport (much cheaper airfares) when flying stateside. One of my trips on the airport shuttle to my car I told the driver "its the one with Ontario plates" -- he gave me a funny look then I realized at least half of the cars had Ontario plates! LOL!

I ment that Niagara is the Jewel not St. Kitts. I really like most of the Niagara region. I think it's a great place for anyone with a young family to live. One thing that I really like about it is even though it's only 100km from Toronto it's definitely not part of the GTA. It's a slower pace and more laid back lifestyle than I observe in most of the GTA.

I understand now. St Cats is not the prettiest town so I was confused. But I agree about the Niagara Region being jewel like; I love that part of Ont!

If St. Catherines is "...not the prettiest town", is there any particular place anyone would recommend? The original poster mentioned Hamilton as a city her family did not like, and a possible move to Burlington. As I'm planning to move from upstate NY to Canada (thinking of Toronto, but open to central/southern Ontario), I'm interested in any recommendations / suggestions / opinions.

I suggest you check out the GTA or southern ontario areas yourself before making such a huge move like this. Some areas in the GTA you could check out: Oakville, Mississauga, Milton, Markham; all thriving suburbs of Toronto which are relatively 'newer' and rapidly developing.
As far as southern ontario goes, Burlington would be a great choice, i'd advise you to check out London ON, and the Niagara area as well.
Other notable areas a bit north.. Quelph, Kitchener/Waterloo.
humm the last post is really worth thinking as you just can’t moves from one place to other without the job market how know as beauty can satisfy your eyes but not money needs I will advise all of families or individuals who are migrating please look for the jobs, industry and other interests /preferences then prepare a list of location planed a little trip to all the short listed locations and finally decide skip the last option if you don’t have much savings
