Hi, hope someone can help me out here...
I am in the process of getting Canadian Permanent Residency based on Federal Skilled Worker application. I am currently still under contract with my employer in the U.S. and I wanted to know if anyone knows how much time I have until I officially have to make the move to Canada after I get the PR?
Is there a time period? If there is and I can't get to Canada within the allotted time do I lose my PR?
Another question:
My husband is from Denmark, if we chose to move to Denmark one day can I still retain my Canadian PR? Do I lose it after a few months of not living in Canada?

Thanks!

From Welcome Page | Page d'accueil :

Immigrating to Canada: Skilled workers and professionals - After applying (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-after.asp - broken link)

If your application is approved, the visa office will issue a permanent resident visa to you. Your permanent resident visa includes your Confirmation of Permanent Residence and your entry visa. Your Confirmation of Permanent Residence will include identification information, your photograph, as well as an expiry date by which you and your dependents must arrive in Canada.

From About Being a Permanent Resident of Canada :

Your permanent resident status allows you to live in Canada, but there is also a time limit on how long you can live outside the country. To keep your status as a permanent resident, you must live in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period.

I'm in the same situation (I have a contract in the US for a few more months, and I'm waiting for the final steps in the PR visa process through the skilled worker program). I know several sources online say there is date/deadline to arrive in Canada after your PR is granted. But I cannot find anywhere online what that period is: 2 months? 6 months?

If anyone has gone through that process and can provide that information, it will be appreciated.

Well, it usually goes by the date you take your medical exams. Why I say this is because your medical exams are valid only for an year from the date when you take them. This is based on my experience and what I heard from friends and read in other forums. Take this as a ballpark and not as an absolute info.
So in short, you need to land in Canada (not necessarily start living in Canada) within 1 year from the date you take your medical exams but you'll have this info. in your CoPR & Visa.
