I have been around raccoons all my life and never seen them kill a cat--but who knows. Although I did see a very large dog print in the mud--my reasons for the dog suspicions. I also thought an owl or some big bird...but still that dog print in the mud stays in my mind. We live in the country so who really knows--I just have to be more attentive I guess....

My realtor's cat had been attacked one night on the screened in lanai....with a screen door that didn't quite close. In the morning the cat was alive but cut and scratched and had been almost drowned in the pool. They had seen a raccoon fooling around with the screen door and assume it was the raccoon. When I was a kid we used to go family tent camping and had to watch out for the dog......We were told that raccoons will work like a pack to attack a dog and drowning is one of their techniques.

But if you saw a dog print in the mud......that's a pretty clear signature.

That is my thinking elston. It is as though it used my kitty like a squeaky toy. I can see how and where it happened. It makes me very sad but I have seen my cats do it to mice etc. It is the way nature is I suppose but it doesn't make it hurt less. Once again I am to sensitive and should learn and grow I suppose but it isn't going to happen with me so I may as well give up on trying! Smile! I will always hurt when something I love is hurt......wouldn't matter if I had a hundred of those I love each one would hurt if they were hurt...it is just the way I am.

Thank you so much elston--it is what my father use to tell me too. Of course that was my father and he loved me and would try to make me feel better about myself so it means a great deal to hear it from you. I don't want to be different I just do not like the pain that goes along with being so sensitive.

Good morning all my friends, supporters and fellow caregivers.
Last night was another difficult breathing night for DH. Lots of coughing and phlegm. Hopefully when he goes to see his Dr they will have some new ideas on how to control it. I know most of it is the ALS and not sure if there really is a way to make it easier but I will keep praying. The weather this year sure has not been of much help either. Lots of people having breathing problems and they don't have ALS so the combination of the weather and ALS is wracking havoc on my poor DH.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Elston's right, you know..... I guess feeling such emotions so intensely is part of being sensitive, and when it's pain, you sometimes feel as though the pain will tear your heart right out.... it's also the intensity of the joy you feel at joyous occasions, or even just contemplating something in the moment, be it the smile of a loved one, the way a beloved kitty's ears prick up at the sound of your voice, a beautiful sunrise ( or sunset, if you're not a morning person, hehe) the smell of pine as you walk through a pine forest, watching someone do a job so well- any number of things. Sometimes you might feel as though you're on a rollercoaster of emotions as they hit you in response to your experiences and observations, but IMO these are a little like being able to see colors, taste flavors so intensely- they make life worth living.

Of course, that's no help with the pain you experience during the sad moments, especially as these moments seem to mount up. And I wish there were some way to take some of that from you, but you know you're loved, admired, and you will prevail. ((((Cyn))))

I'm so sorry to hear that- hopefully your DH can see his doctor soon and get some help with the breathing. Would a nebulizer, maybe with some medication to help clear his airways help with these problems? I mention that because some of my family members have asthma and have to resort to these sometimes, and they seem to help.
