....of cats stealing the breath from the baby. Last night I woke up gasping for air on 3 separate occasions. Tippy Toes had decided to snuggle with my mouth & nose each time. I surely now understand how a cat could smother a baby, I was nearly smothered my own self.

Anyone else have an assassin for a kitty?

I had always heard that cats are attracted to the smell of milk on a baby's breath.

But I can go to bed with my breath smelling like Listerine and wake up at three a.m. with a face full of kitty fur. Neo thinks the most comfy place on my bed is draped across my face blocking my breathing passages.

Aside from the mercenary looks that my cat somtimes gives me (I swear she's plotting my death), my cat--when she was a kitten--would sometimes stand over me when I slept. Fortunately, every time she has snuggled with me (which is rare), she just lies on my lap.

It is really sad, though, that from the cat's perspective, they are just cuddling while from the human perspective, the cat is trying to kill the hand that feeds it.

I had one that couldn't sleep unless her nose was buried in my scalp or she was laying where I could breathe on her. She never got on my face though!

I was told by the pediatrician to keep the cat away from the newborn because the cat will sleep on the baby's chest and make it hard to breathe. Buffy was a big cat.

Checkers likes to sleep on the top of my pillow, and wrap his little self around my face.

I have one that likes to drape right in my neck sort of under the chin which in effect makes it hard to breath.
Just a nice warm place for them.

My boy cat Merlin just has to sleep on my pillow wrapped around the top of my head like a wool cap.

Cooper does this! He sleeps on my chest and sometimes draped across my neck, I've never had a hard time breathing, but he snores a little and sometimes wakes me up. Not that I mind, it's impossible to be grumpy when you wake up with a ball of fluff surrounding you!
