Droppers are a lot easier than pills. I pay extra for the liquid drops - I have NEVER been successful at getting a cat to swallow a pill! The best I could do was crush it up and add it to his food. That said, holding down a 15 pound cat, getting him to open his mouth and squirting the liquid in before he bites you (and without choking him) is indeed an accomplishment!
I've had good luck with Friskies Hairball Remedy treats. They're really soft and you can roll a pill into them. They also stay soft in the bag til it's empty, unlike other soft treats. They're more expensive than some treats, but cheaper than Pill Pockets (which my kitty won't eat, anyway). She's been taking daily pills for years now and these are the best things I've found.
If you need a wide spectrum antibiotic, ask your vet about Orbax suspension.
Orbax, which was developed for veterinary use, has a malt flavor that that cats do not find repulsive, unlike Clavimox, which was developed for pediatric use and tastes like bubble gum.
It also comes with an improved dispensing syringe which makes it much easier to dose the cat.
It also seems to be more effective than Clavimox and several other products we have used.
Having succeeded at giving oral medication (via a dropper) to my very uncooperative cat, I now feel I can accomplish ANYTHING!
Well done!

I find pilling cats way easier than droppers or syringes. And sooo much faster. I have developed a method that I claim anyone can do, and once they master it, they can pill any cat.
Braunschweiger is a liverwurst, which is a sausage made from pork liver. I've never eaten it, but some number of humans enjoy it. I have seen it come up before in discussion of pilling dogs so I guess it makes sense that some cats would like it. I think it's softer than most sausages thus somewhat mixable (disregarding the casing, if any).
I have a cat that likes Pill Pockets so I've been using those for a couple years to give her 2 pills a day. I don't feel cut out for catsmom's method.
Nice tip about the other treats that are soft enough to mold around a pill though!
