I prefer cats for their independence and attitude. I love all pets but cats are certainly number one for me.

Default Toby Is the Cat

My cat was raised by a momma dog as a kitten so he is quit weird. He sits up rolls over begs fetches. Arent those dog charecteristics. Toby is all cat though sleeps on my head boards at night and wakes me in the morning. Toby is 13 years old now, He is the Tabby Cat

I like cats -- always have. I don't want any critter wound up tighter than a golf ball, bouncing around the house like he has a problem with too much energy. On top of that, dogs like to bark, slobber, and they have to be taken outside to poop. As long as I live, I'll never have a dog.

I think it's a combination between those men just being jealous of the cats and the residual puritanical b******* that still exists in Western culture of associating cats with witches.

I know so many guys who are cat lovers. And many guys who thought they weren't into cats until they lived with them. (But I know women who thought that too-including myself! I thought cats were OK, but not really for me. So did my husband. Now we have 3.) It's just a stereotype.

I love cats and dogs. Never met an animal I didn't like. Heck, I'll even take a stray wasp or spider outside of the house because they strayed in and need to be back in their own environment.

Haven't seen this discussed here in quite a while, so glad this old thread got bumped up. I still think that there are many more men that really love cats than you might think, and perhaps they've been around for a long time. It's just that until recently they weren't comfortable admitting it, as cats weren't considered a 'manly' pet, and doesn't fit the 'macho' image. To guys who think that way, I would remind them I routinely sleep with the same cat in my bed that is considered one of the worlds top predators, and that cat could easily rearrange my face & hand me my nose if she wanted to. You really can't get much more macho than that.
As with most posters here, I don't have pets to bolster an image so I'm not concerned about that. I live with cats because I simply love everything about them, and I don't really care what anyone thinks about it. I think in recent years those attitudes about guys loving cats has started to change, and more & more of us are 'coming out of the closet' so to speak. I certainly hope so anyway.
