There is a heat wave coming I ask please put out water in a large pan they can lay in that isn't to deep that if they fall asleep or pass out they drown. Please a big pan if you have one with about a half inch of drinking and lay in water.
They have no way of knowing where water is like other animals do. Even if not for the cats maybe if you can a bird bath for both cats and birds. We had that years ago and the birds had a blast taking baths in it. When the birds were done to our surprise we saw cats jump up and drink from it. One cat had fun playing with the water. We use to laugh watching this silly young cat swish the water around with his paws making it move with amazement. It was so funny.
Please it is a kind thing to do for them it's not like we and they all live near a clean brook or pond in the wilderness.
With the assortment of critters around here plus all the cats there's always plenty of water out.
I've got deer, raccoons, opossums, groundhogs and saw a peacock a few months ago.
Never know what comes around that I don't see. This weather is crazy and I worry about them all.
I've got water out and when it is hot outside, the water soon becomes warm and if it is in the sun it gets quite hot. Shallow water heats faster than deep water, so I don't know how much the animals are using it to cool off and not just as drinking water.
I have to scrub the water buckets out with a scrub brush because otherwise they are soon fouled with algae. Swish and rinse isn't enough.
Really, OP, cats fall asleep in water and drown?
