I can't afford to take her to the vet because money in my family is extremely tight right now as I am leaving for grad school on Saturday morning. Is there anyway to treat this naturally? I called the animal hospital and they said to not give her any food for 12-16 hours but just water. Is there anything else I could do? When she sits down she runs (but not bloody just pinkish sorry this is so gross) out of her bottom. When my dad picked her up to get her out of the bed, she meowed like it was uncomfortable or painful. What should I do?

She slept most of the day yesterday but the diarrhea just started today.

Default too little info

You're giving us very little information to go on and no one here is a veterinarian. Your cat needs to see a Lic. vet ASAP! Diarrhea can kill. Your cat may be dehydrated already. No one you know can help you with the bill? No friends or family?

That may well be more than just diarrhea. Get it checked out by a vet immediately!

I wish I could get her checked out by a vet but we seriously cannot afford to take her to one as my dad is out of work and my mom is the only one working and we are both struggling. She seems to be doing better now but still.

I'm sorry money is tight, but having a pet means taking care of your pet's health and making sure they have veterinary care whenever and wherever necessary. And yes, it's necessary when a cat is exhibiting symptoms like you describe. It's an owner's moral obligation to make sure their furry dependents get the medical care they need.

Since you/your family are unable to financially care for this cat, it would be wise to contact one of the cat rescue organizations in your area and ask for their help in getting this cat into a new home.

I can understand your financial predicament, I'm on unemployment and working part-time. Times are extremely tight for me too, and I've had give up doing a lot things that I like to do. But if my cat got sick, I would take the money out of my savings to take him to the vet.

Is there at PetsMart near you? You can get a coupon for a free exam/office visit at a Banfield vet in one of the PetsMart stores. You should be able to find one on Google, and if you can do that, all you'll have to pay for is the medication for your cat.

This sounds more like a pyometra to me. Is this cat un-spayed by any chance?

It is illegal to not take a sick cat to the vet. Pyometra (infection of the uterus) is a horrible painful disease and your cat will die without emergency surgery. Die in terrible pain.

Cats are masters at hiding pain, so since your cat is actually showing signs of pain, she is in deep agony.

Either take her to the vet or surrender her to a shelter where she can get the care she needs.

the most common problem attributable to diarrhea and lethargy is probably tape worms. Scooting is another symptom. Go to wal mart and get de-worming pills. They will be about $20.
