For the past day or two my cat keeps getting sneezing fits!! This is the first time I have ever seen this happen (we have had him for three years) and he sneezes a bunch!

The only thing I can think of is that this started when I bought a big dog pillow yesterday and it is made with cedar fibers, so the cedar smell is pretty strong. I put the dog bed outside to air out, but my kitty keeps sneezing!!

Could he be allergic or just have allergies? Should I take him to the vet?

It could be allergies! One of my cats has allergies and we usually sneeze within seconds of each other. If the eyes and nose are clear of gunk it just might be allergies. To be on the safe side, I would call the vet and tell him about the cedar chips and that your cat started sneezing after you got it.

Would it be possible to do a little experiment? Could you remove the new dog bed for a few days and see if the sneezing stops?
If you see any discharge from the eyes and/or nose I'd get kitty to the vet asap.

It could be allergies. It could be a cold too. If you see discharge, take him to the vet.

I agree with the above posters! I have one cat who gets a virus from time to time. I don't know where he gets it as he is inside and the others don't get sick. He starts sneezing and coughing and refuses to eat much - which is fav thing to do! He's been to the vet before and they usuaully say to wait it out unless he stops drinking.

I would get of the dog bed and take him in if it doesn't go away.
