“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” a statement posted to Keith’s website and social media said.
I never got to see him. Every time he came around there was always something else going on. I am going to Winstar next week. I will stop in his restaurant and have a cold one for him.
I can't help but think that he had a horrifically agonizing battle, judging by his appearance in recent months. It's absolutely heartbreaking.
I went through a HUGE Toby Keith phase in the mid- to late- 2000s. Attended four or five of his concerts, one of them from the third row. He definitely knew how to put on a show. I know he was most widely known for his patriotic and party songs, but he was really underrated as a balladeer. I think it's time to bust out the old playlist and enjoy some of his art.
Man he was good. Had some of the best songs and a level head.
Yes he did. I LOVE "Don't let the old man in". I had played it for my dad a few times - he thought it was a cool song. It always reminds me of him now. Kind of tearing up now listening to it.
Thanks for the music Toby. You'll be missed by many.
