From what I've been reading online the answer is no. But yesterday I was browsing the internet and I was just out of reach of my home wifi so I was using the 3g when a screen popped up and said "connect to a wifi network" (or something along those lines) and the network was a bunch of backslashes and numbers and it said trojan in the middle. Is that a virus? I've never had that pop up before and now it has popped up two more times since yesterday. Should I be worried? BTW, my phone is not jailbroken.

If your wifi is on it continually searches to try to find something to connect to. Someone near you is broadcasting that connection, whether it be ad hoc or a WAP or whatever.

Turn your wifi off or ignore it.

It's technically not impossible for iphones to get viruses, but to my knowledge there aren't any around for non-jailbroken iphones.

Tough to tell, but if it were my hunch I would say no. Especially if you dont have any reason to have a trojan horse or virus like a jailbroken phone with oddball apps.

Its likely that a neighbor of yours decided to name their wifi network in the name you saw.

You can always try shutting your wifi off on the iphone and seeing if you still get that message where you found it. Alternatively do a wifi search where you found it to confirm it in fact only shows up there in that vicintiy vs other far off areas.

More than likely what you were seeing was a clever individual who did not want anyone trying to jump on his WiFi Network so he set WIFI Network Name to scare people away (Much like it got your attention).

The truth is the iPhone is tough to crack because:

1. Apple Controls the only App Store

2. Apps go through like 20 hoops before they become available for purchase/download on a phone.

Even the most experienced hackers ( the Jailbreakers) spend months trying to get around Apple's security.

It is safe to say you won't be able to easily install a trojan virus.

Now phishing info is a totally different story that is something you have to be careful with.
