Not a phone, but I have an older I-pad mini that will no longer take updates, and yes, there have been a couple of apps that I tried to upload that failed due to the old IOS.

We keep our phones for a long time. We have an iPad that no longer gets updates and we just bought hubs a new phone to replace his iPhone 6. Old technology usually works fine if a little slower but if you use Verizon like we do, the old iPhones won’t work on their network after Jan 1 2022.

Yes, and since then I have had 2-3 updates on the iPhones but none on the Ipad.

My previous one - iPhone 6 from 2015 - continued to work fine to the very end (this year). I had to give it up because the battery was swelling and splitting the phone apart.

I never updated it before, because I needed to maximize the memory space for music. But it purred like a kitten without any updating.
