Hi.....
We are looking into rentals in the Charleston area, primarily Ladson, Summerville, and Goose Creek right now. We might consider other areas.

I've read here that some areas of Summerville aren't the best to live in. Can anyone give me any information on the Old Trolley Road area of Summerville? There is an apt. complex there that we are considering. We plan to go down there in a few weeks, but would like to rule it out now if we hear that it should be avoided.

Thanks in advance.

the Trolley Rd area of S'Ville is extremely safe and a fantastic place to live IMHO, plenty close enough to the other areas all around Charleston while being in the best school district in the state...

It's referred to as the Oakbrook section of S'Ville by many, I've lived here for many years... I moved here a few years before my daughter became of school age to take advantage of the DD2 district

very good people and a convenient location for me, close enough to make a quick trip to the beach while being far enough inland to stay home if a hurricane comes this way... I'm a lowcountry native, lived West Ashley during Hurricane Hugo where 3 large pines came through the roof... S'Ville fared much better!

not that other areas aren't good but the Oakbrook area is one of the better IMHO... I remember when they started building this area, Trolley used to be nothing but a small wooded shortcut road to S'Ville... things have grown!

I totally agree. I lived in the Oakbrook area for a few years, and I loved it. Publix is right there (I live at Cane Bay now, so I appreciate the proximity !)
There are restaurants near the Walmart area, and there are nice little odds and ends on Trolley Rd itself (Trade a Book store, hair salons, restaurants).
You are close enough to Dorchester Rd to head into North Charleston, or you can get on the Interstate via Ladson Rd.
