I'll be honest. For new residents of any town or city a GPS is invaluable.

The easiest way to get to the city is on I26. When in the city you will find most of what you are looking for below Calhoun st. The city market would be a great place to start.

Take I-26 eastbound to the very end and get off on the Meeting Street exit. Turn right on Meeting Street and about 1/2 mile down you'll see the visitor's center on the right hand side. Stop there and you can get a map of the city along with valuable info.

I have lived in Goose Creek for about 3 years now. I don't go to down town much. But I try to park in a parking garage and spend the day walking. The weather is awesome to walk all day.

I found the best way to go is I-26 to the Morrison Drive/East Bay Street exit. Turn left on Mount Pleasant Avenue, then keep going straight....it will take you all the way to the Market and the Historic District, without having to deal with everyone that takes the Meeting Street and King Street exits.

I lived downtown for several years, and had to drive back into the city after work each day. I never had major traffic going this way.
