What are the good school districts? We have a 4.5 year old so she'll be starting Kindergarden next year.

Also, what areas have a subdivision with no HOA. My hubby is 200% against them.

Dorchester District 2 has some of the best governement schools in the area, it is also where you will find the most areas without HOA's.......

You will have to look at older Subs or areas that are not in a sub at all to get away from the HOA....

Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood.....

Mount Pleasant schools are the top schools in the area. They are in Charleston County School Board -- which isn't the top school board. Seriously -- either the DD2 school district or Mount Pleasant schools will do fine. I cannot tell you how THRILLED I am with Wando High School. It has everything and more to offer the students and I love the atmosphere within the school. (I volunteer in the school every week). My son went to Laing Middle School & it was just the right fit. It's a Science and Technology Magnet school but you don't have to be in the magnet school to benefit from the extras provided it.

There are many areas to buy a home in Mt. Pleasant without a subdivision. Both Summerville & Mt. Pleasant have lots of homes with HOA's but you can get around that.

Tons of places on line to search either the DD2 school district or the Mount Pleasant schools. You can choose by size, price range, area. Be prepared to lose time <G>

Dorchester District 2 is the best school district in the area, hands down.

Windsor Hill Subdivision in North Charleston is in Dorchester District 2 school district with affordable housing, good location and while we do have an HOA, they are not the strict 'you can't put that pink flamingo in your yard' HOA that you see in some neighborhoods. Rather they basically just handle lawn care of the main thoroughfare of the subdivision.

My wife and I have had absolutely ZERO issues with living here or sending our two sons to the schools here for the past 11 years.

Does Windsor Hill HOA forbid motorcycles? I know many of the newer communities have HOA's that do. My husband has one and we are having to shy away from those communities. We are looking at rentals in the area and want to know which neighborhoods to rule out! Thanks!

No it does not.

There are several people in our subdivision with motorcycles.

Becareful with the Dorechester 2 is the best school district in the area. School District encompasses many schools at each level. Not all are great.

Yes Charleston County School District is a huge district that encompasses a large geographic area. So much diversity in the county, not so much in Mt. Pleasant. Laing Middle School is the most diverse, and from my experienc, it is just as good as Moultrie and Cario -- especially if you consider number of students per teacher ratio as important. Laing is a small school in comparison to most of the middle schools worthy of going to in DD2 or CCSD.
