Oh, I was under the impression the home was built -for- you, and was recently "out of warranty". My apologies for the misread.

You didn't happen to purchase a home warranty when you bought the home did you, i.e. AHS, Global, etc?

I did buy a warranty, it went out a week before the unit did. How convenient.

Well, My wife did the best job she could in the short amount fo time. We ended up having three contractors (one being close to family, with 30 years HVAC experience) basically tell us the unit was wrongly matched to the air handler and the ducting was inefficient for the layout of the house. We had the register right next to the exhaust.
So, we are getting a SEER 15 unit from Tempstar, non builders grade, new ducting, and handler installed.
Opinions aside, I am proud of my wife for sucking up the crappy weather for a few weeks with no AC/Heater. Install will be done Wednesday, right before I fly in on Friday.
