bulldog I get where you're coming from and I am of the same Walter Williams libertarian type mindset.
However freedom and responsibility go hand in hand. When citizens abuse a freedom, especially to the endangerment of other persons or property then they are going to impact the exercise of that freedom for all. I would have preferred more intermediate steps such as stiffer fines and a greater police presence. However there is a direct corollary between crime, vandalism and intoxication.
