Well after officially visiting Charleston I think I've narrowed my choices down to: Heron Reserve or Colonial Grand at Cypress Cove. Going to check out a few houses tomorrow just to see. I really like the West Ashley area though. Mt Pleasant might be just a little too crowded.
Did you check Sabal Palms? That is the complex next to Heron Reserve. My son lives there. It doesn't have quite as many amenities as Heron Reserve, but you'll save yourself a couple of hundred dollars a month. My son likes it because it's very quiet - or at least the section he's in is. He's also not a balcony person (too hot natured to sit outside) and Sabal Palms has nice sun rooms instead.

I did check out Sabal Palms but didn't like the fact they don't have a balcony...felt too enclosed for me. After viewing some townhomes, I'll probably go with a townhome. I haven't lived in an apt in over 6 years and I think I'll be happier in a townhome vice the apt life. I did find your reviews of apts in the area very informative (agree with your write ups too ).
