We are going to be visiting there in the near future. Can anyone map out a good driving tour of West Ashley to get a good feel of the area? OleTomCat put together a driving tour in Summerville which was very helpful to get a feel of the area. I'm hoping somebody can do the same of West Ashley.
Certainly not a full tour, but do take Hwy 17 & turn off east onto Wapoo Road (about quarter mile north of I526 & Hwy 17) & just keep going to Edgewater. So beautiful. Not nearly a tenth of what there is to see in WA ... but, wanted to point out a hidden gem. We rode bikes on the WA Greenway today & were glad to get out there too.
There are MANY hidden "pokes" in WA where finger-like neighborhoods sit near the marsh & old live oaks abound.
Price point? Features? Or just touring the overall area? I could map out a driving tour that hits all kinds of neighborhoods for you, but I don't know if you want to take the time to visit Million$+ neighborhoods, waterfront neighborhoods, walk-to-the-bar neighborhoods or large subdivision types.

I'd like an overall tour but skip the million dollar homes. I'm on the total opposite end. LOL It would be nice to be able to walk or be near restaurants/bars, shops. I like to be close to big box stores and everyday needs.
The walk-to entertainment of WA seems to be only in the Windemere/Avondale areas. Avondale is restaurant/pubs & young crowd. The Earthfare shopping center has 3 Birds Cafe which was packed inside & out during last Sunday's brunch time. I like the South Windemere/Byrnes Downs housing stock nearby. The neighborhood east of Hwy 17 and south of Folly road has very inviting smaller homes with character.

Do you know the names of some of the streets or subdivisions by there?
Beckycat, these are older developed areas -- not the "subdivisions" as neighborhoods after the '90's were called. As stated, I am talking about homes in WA neighborhoods of Windermere/South Windermere/Avondale.

Oh, I see. I prefer older established neighborhoods. Cookie cutter neighborhoods are not for me. I just googled the area. The homes are a bit pricey over there.
