You don't even have to say soda for us to know you're a Yankee. The "take off" statement is all we needed!
LoL
Having grown up nowhere near the northeast US, I've always thought of "pop" as the Yankee term. Despite being in a solid blue part of the map I only rarely remember hearing it, except for people from Montana.
I'd like to know how some of the people in the green-shaded part of the map responded.

I read somewhere once that other meant things like tonic, fizzy, fizz, or soft drink.
I grew up in South Georgia and can attest to the fact that our generic name for soda was Coke. Just a matter of what kind. Orange, Sprite, Mtn Dew, etc
Seriously -- you took the time to report it off topic and then participated in the discussion. That is hilarious.
Seeing as how I was planning on following it wherever it ended up, yes.
Just because you see an issue with a thread doesn't mean you have to be that stubborn poster who is going to stand by and refuse to participate in it. As a moderator for a few other forums, I see the value in smart use of the report button.
Mainers say soda. I don't think all northerners use the same term. I love topics like this, personally.
I'm happy to report that NYers call it 'soda'. I know they say 'pop' in Minnesota. That concludes my contribution. Back to you...
