Hmmm. Looks like Charleston is gonna get it's share of the pie afterall. They expect the State to approve a half billion $ proposal to extend I-526 tomorrow.

The money has already been allocated. This is just a vote on responsibility.
Oh, good! And all the people thought Charleston got left out.
That road is going to make Southern Charleston County explode. The Johns Island area, between James Island and Kiawah, is vast, open land. Could become the next Mount Pleasant once access is done with a finished 526.
Yea! Finally!!!!! These idiots (the Coastal Conservation League and Mr. B) have been trying to stop this for years, while the majority of us want it and desperately need it!!!!

Yep. It makes absolutely no sense to be on 526 going to Johns Island or Kiawah or anywhere that direction, and all of a sudden it ends, and you have to get on Savannah Highway and fight nightmare traffic and take secondary roads to get through.
The traffic relief will help Savannah Highway, and the new road will create a boom for that part of the county.

All people of the islands, please vote tomorrow for Anna Johnson for Charleston County Council (incumbent) so we can continue to complete I-526. Her competitor is a farmer on Johns Island Legare, who wants to stop all growth on Johns Island and have everybody that works regular day jobs to sit in traffic on the Stono Bridge and at the intersection of Main Rd and Savannah Hwy.
Anna Johnson has a long history of saying one thing and doing something else entirely. Her vote to rezone the portion of Folly Road near Grimball was in direct conflict with what those constituents living there wanted. She's made false claims about compensation for those displaced by 526. I wouldn't trust her as far as I could punt her.
She was also elected with the support of the anti-526 crowd because she said she opposed it. Then she voted for it. Then she refused to answer for her flip-flop either in the press or directly to her constituents. She is infamous for not taking any 526-related questions.

Vote Legare
Well, your person lost. So, on with the growth of the south Charleston area. Anna Johnson supports infrastructure and growth for Charleston. You may not trust her, but I and the majority do! She has some common sense, which many other do not. Just stay downtown and enjoy. Yea, I chose to live on the islands, but not all can afford to live downtown like yourself.
It's great DOT approved the money for 526 extension last year, but I am very sad that Bobby Harrell resigned and pled guilty and all that happened. He was a great proponent of the completion of 526, and had connections with the state and his father.
During the whole brouhaha a few years back Elliot Summey pointed something out that no one ever addresses. There are already thousands of lots that have been subdivided on Johns Island. Whether or not another parcel is ever divided those alone will far exceed the capacity of current infrastructure. And were it not for the recession they would have already done so.
Sometimes reality has a way of changing peoples mind. As someone who owns a home in West Ashley I will also be happy to see some of the traffic eased on 17 and 61.
