You know the team voted years ago to take "Lady" out of their name. I'm a Carolina grad, too. The State newspaper doesn't use the word "lady" anymore.

Man! I can't believe that! We don't get the news over here in Charleston like this! I always call them Lady Gamecocks! We use the Lady over here on the coast. I thought you were going to say Dawn Staley (awesome coach) was leaving or something about the Lady!

Great to hear from another Carolina Grad!

not only do we have the #6 team in the country right now...Coach Staley also has the (currently) #4 ranked recruiting class in the country with the #1 player in the country, and Columbia native, A'ja Wilson still yet to sign

I didn't know any of this, but that's great . Thank you for sharing it!

We're also USC fans, but we really don't follow basketball. Glad to see the university on the map for another sport, though!

Forgot the source but Carolina was the only school in the country ( at the time, could have changed) with 3 of the big 4 athletic teams ranked in the top 10. Football at 4, Ladies BB at 6 and baseball at 7. Regardless of how long that statement held true, Carolina's athletic teams are doing great.

Staley is a terrific coach. And financially, we are better than ever which means this success is not a blip, our revenues should exceed $100m within the next year.

Academics are also doing great with record applications (highest in SC), record entry scores (above 1,200 while increasing enrollment), record grants, record fund raising etc....

But, back on topic, Staley's program is getting better each game.

Thats right GSP, now I am hearing Ladies BB is now destined to go to the Final four this year. When they make it to the sweet sixteen, I will go to the game, especially if it is up in the Norfolk/Tidewater area like it was last year.

just an update...the now #4 gamecock women's basketball team wrapped up the outright SEC regular season title last night with a win over UGA. They are currently 26-2 (14-1) on the season and finished the season undefeated at home.

They will close out the regular season Sunday on the road against UT in Knoxville
