We go to a dozen or so RiverDogs games every year. Each time we go, I am appalled at how little they're doing to make even basic improvements to the roads around those ballparks.
The Parking Lots are full of pot holes....you could lose an axle in there. Last Friday there was a Corvette trying to navigate the craters. I think he scraped the bottom off that fiberglass car !! There's 3000 cars on a good night at $5 each, they could pave both lots tonight and not spend a penny of their precious local tax dollars.
We usually leave the game by going out Fishbourne Street and up Rutledge to the I-26 entrance. But Rutledge Ave is one-way (the wrong way) at the Fishbourne intersection -- they couldn't extend the 2-way traffic 1 more block to Fish ?? You have to drive up Ashley Avenue thru residential neighborhoods at 10 o'clock at night. And as far as Street Lights are concerned.....they might as well have candlelights. The Street Signs, if you can find them, are filthy dirty. You can't read them at night. It doesn't take a lot of thought or a lot of money to do this right.
This corner of town is the home to a baseball and football stadium, both have been there for quite a while. Isn't it about time to finish the improvements here ??
The lot has been in that condition for at least a couple of years. I always take my high ground clearance SUV to the games. My wife's car could easily get stuck in one of the potholes.
And the petty thieves are out during the games checking for unlocked vehicles. I lost a cell phone and sunglasses from my vehicle 6/28, even with the heavy police presence directing traffic just yards away. After moving some things from the passenger space to the trunk I must have failed to lock the car. It was parked in the handicapped section on the front row next to the street.
Probably because there’s no incentive to make it better. MUSC employees have to pay to park there. Whether it’s gravel or nice a smooth, they get the same money either way and gravel is cheaper.
MUSC employees do not pay to park in the Hagood lot. They pay to park in the parking garages, but if you're in Hagood it's free.
