Why does the shopping suck here for the most part? Let's face it, most of us would much rather go to the malls in Myrtle Beach, Greenville, Atlanta, and Charlotte. What's sad is that my parents are coming to visit me for a day this week (they live in Greenville) and my mom is staying a few extra days and I'm then driving her back so I can go to the Haywood Mall and maybe the Dillards Clearance Center in Asheville.

I just don't understand why Charleston is so far behind from every other town. If Myrtle Beach can have a huge and great mall, why can't we?

I agree.

I just moved from the Greenville area and they just opened a new Cabelas up there I think last week. You might want to check out that store too if you're into that kind of thing.

I went shopping a few weeks ago and ended up just hitting the Tanger Outlet. I haven't been to Northwoods or Citadel Mall in a long long time. When I went it was usually just to Dillards and Belk and that's it.

Don't even bother going to those malls. I always leave empty-handed.

But even the department stores here have a blah selection. I don't get it. For all the tourists we get, you would think retailers would want as much merchandise in their stores.

I think the Belk in Mt.P is one of the best for mens clothing in the area, Tanger is decent too

Belk isn't bad...I try to get linen pants and shorts and Belk had some last year. Hoping to find a place with a great selection of men's linen somewhere.

That Belk is actually really nice. I'm starting to realize if I want to do any shopping, to either go to Tanger or Towne Centre.

About Tanger.... what are they adding to it? Won't be more than a month or 2 before that little addition is complete

Malls are a thing of the past, outlets like Tanger are the "new" malls. I read somewhere recently we are getting a Bass Pro Shops in 2015 somewhere up near Northwoods Mall. So, yes we are a little behind our neighbors, but I feel like we are still trying to improve the retail environment here. New stuff is coming into town all the time... I don't even shop any more, if I do I go to Town Center but I do most of my shopping online nowadays.
