Hello, Hilton Head resident here. We're considerin mobbing to the Charleston area and in all my research on the Internet I haven't been able to find any info on the actual dollar figures associated with the HOA, regime, and other optional amenities in I'on. I'd just like a ballpark of how much we'd be shelling out a month on top of all the regular costs of homeownership. How does it compare in relation to the other communities in Mt. Pleasant?

We live in I'on. The HOA fees are staggeringly low considering the upscale level of the community. Our 2015 assessment was $1000 for the whole year on a 4300 sq/ft house. That said, all it pays for is landscaping, some community events, but no other amenities. If you want to make use of the I'on club with its restaurant, gym, tennis courts, pools, then there is an enrollment fee and annual fee who's amount depends on what type of membership one gets (single person, family, etc). Although we have joined the I'on club, we found this to be a great and equitable system allowing those who have no use for the amenities not to be subject to paying for them for other people, as opposed to most other communities where you are forced to pay for amenities you might not care for.

Thanks for the quick response! Do you know how much a couples membership to the club runs?

We are just a couple as well, but I don't have the exact info in front of me. Iirc it was around $2k to join for both of us and about $2k/yr in membership fees. They have different promotions going on at different times of the year so your rates will likely vary ... just give them a call and ask them, they're very nice and helpful.
