The trick to MUSC commutes is that it is not entirely distance. Most jobs occur in either shifts or at the same start times as other similar jobs whether they be in the hospital, finance/business or research and services. So you actually have traffic jams at the lights turning into the general area and at parking areas as well. Then you have to either walk or ride from parking to your building.
But I do agree- close in Mt Pleasant especially off 17 is not bad because its all larger volume roads. Travelling a similar distance down 17 south in West Ashley would be much more tedious. But the convenience comes at a price.
