I've never bought anything there, and have actually heard some bad things on this board, but Ashley Furniture just went under new management and has reopened their N. Charleston store. My daughter has bought furniture from them, they live in NC, but they're on a tight budget - so I'm sure they were driven by $.

NC - if you go to Highpoint, from what I understand many furniture stores, I think an entire Mall.

Also - Costco on line has some great values - if you have a membership, and currently JC Penney's on line is clearancing out MANY furniture items, like over 50% off, I'm wondering if they're getting out of the furniture business.

Sams Club also sells furniture - in store and on-line, but I know the frustration of shopping on line, since you can't touch it.

We also found a great furniture store in Walterboro - Hamiltons - nice things, reasonably priced.

Good luck, we're going thru the same thing now - have been shopping for months for a kitchen/dining set and family room furniture - not being from the area, we didn't know where to go either.

Also Haverty's has some nice things also.
